Aperture, Shutter speed and ISO

Aperture

                                                                            F 2.8

F 16

1) We should relate aperture to our pupil
2) The smaller the aperture opening or hole the higher the aperture number
3)When using aperture you adjusting the light in you photo as well as the depth and field of the photo. The smaller the number when using aperture, the more blurred the background will be to add depth to the photo and truly focus on the subject.

Shutter speed

 High shutter speed

Slow shutter speed

1)
a. medium shutter speed
b. medium shutter speed
c. high shutter speed
d. high shutter speed
e. medium/high shutter speed
f. high shutter speed

2)
a. slow shutter speed
b.slow shutter speed
c.medium shutter speed
d.medium shutter speed
e.slow/medium shutter speed
f.medium shutter speed

3) Aperture Priority allows you to point you camera around while it adjusts the shutter speed
Shutter priority setting allows you to manually set the shutter speed but the camera automatically sets the aperture.
Manual mode is the way to go if you want to manually set aperture and shutter speed.

ISO
ISO 200

ISO 3200

1) If you are shooting in a dark place then a higher ISO will help brighten the photo and will give you better results.
2)Try to use the lowest ISO possible. If you are in a dark environment try to use a tripod and leave you camera at a low ISO.
3)Use a high ISO when there is not enough light to give you a clear, sharp photo.

Great Black and White photographers part 3

1) When I first looked at this photo I was intrigued. When looking through Doisneau's photos I found myself trying to figure out the story behind each one. I think everyone is very intriguing and will leave you curious.

2) Putting myself in this photo I see a hill with plants all along the side. I see a boy making his way down the hill trying to keep his footing along it's steep side. I see smoke filling the air from the factory. While the sky slowly turns grey I look to my side and notice how large the factory is. I begin to smell the smoke as it grows closer to me. The chemicals and pollution in the air are beginning to take over the smell of plants and dirt the line the hill. I can hear shouting from the factory. The boy begins to talk to me and I hear his feet shuffling through the grass. I can't tase much other than the moisture in the air from rain. I feel the plants rubbing on my legs. I feel peace and serenity.

3) I think a blog would be the way to go to share Doisneu's photos with everyone else. I think it would be a good way to show others his great work.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

A) The website shows many manipulated photos and explains how difficult it is to find photos that have not been manipulated in some way. The article goes on explain how to be ethical when changing photos and how to avoid extreme manipulation when it comes to photography.

B) These newspapers provide all their photographers with very strict guidelines when it comes to taking photos and editing them to avoid major photo manipulation.

C) I think if the subject of the photo or who you are taking it of agrees to slightly change their physical appearance it is acceptable as well as cropping, brightening or possibly adding vibrance to an image.

D)

I believe this is the most unethical photo out of all the manipulated photos provided. This image would be very inappropriate for a political leader to have taken and this photo could have hurt her and made her lose her job and it is not even her. I think many people may have found it offensive and blamed Sarah Palin even though she had nothing to do with it.

E)

I find this photo the least unethical. Although the photo is being manipulated it does not hurt or offend anyone. This photo did not change the way anyone looked and was just edited to add someone in.

Peer critique

https://annamiletich.blogspot.com/2018/09/blog-post_13.html?showComment=1537218227383#c1195155470674041765

These Photos are balanced and well framed. They are strong and are a great example of the academic theme.

One is a little dark and out of focus.

Academic Shoot reflection and critique

1.
Since I was using most of these skills for the first tie in this shoot it was all very new to me and i faced challenges like figuring out where the thirds line would be or trying to balance the photo out without disturbing students

2.
Without ever using a camera like that before I ran into a couple challenges regarding technical aspects. The biggest issue I had was focusing the photos. I often found it hard to get clear pictures and have them turn out the way I envisioned. Another Issue
I had was by the time I had grabbed the camera and found the shutter button i had already missed my photo opportunity.  I tried multiple times to fix the issue by trying to focus the camera but unfortunately I continued to struggle with getting clear photos.

3.
If I got the chance to retake this photos I would definitely take my time instead of rushing these photo and I would work on keeping them in focus while getting new angles.

4.
I would continue to do a few things the same like trying different classes and subjects.

5.
I think the easiest rule will be avoiding mergers in the future now that I am aware of what they are and how to eliminate them.

6.
I think the hardest rule to capture will be finding balance in my photos.

7.
I understand all of the rules but I think it will take practice to fully get a grasp on how to apply them to my photos

Academic Shoot Photo #3

Composition Technique: Balance

Subject: Two students closest to camera listening to the teacher

This Photo does not make it clear what the subject is

It could be more in focus and better taken

Academic Shoot Photo #2

Composition Technique: Simplicity

Subject: students working on lab in science

The picture is a little out of focus

The picture is not as clear as it could be and there are mergers

Academic Shoot Photo . #1

Composition Technique: Rule of Thirds

Subject: Student using the lockers to take notes

I think this photo could have turned out much better

I could have gotten rid of any distractions in the picture and tried to focus it a little more

Great black and white photographers Part 2

Robert Doisneau was born into a middle class family in Gentilly, france on April 14, 1912. After both of his parents died while he was a child he lived with his aunt he later went to a craft school and eventually got into photography. During World War 2 Doisneau's photography had to come to astop while there was war in the streets of France. He often photographed life in France and has a very famous picture of a young couple kissing in Paris. He released multiple books such as  La Banlieue de Paris which was full of his photographs.  Robert married Pierrette Chaumaison and had two children. He unfortunately died in April 1994 but will never be forgotten.
